6 Days Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru & Amboseli Safari

Safari Overview

This is a 6 days Safari from Nairobi with its ultimate destination in Amboseli National Park dubbed “Home of the African Elephant”.

Starting in Maasai Mara National Reserve (Kenya’s most popular safari destination and home to 95 species of mammals, amphibians and reptiles and over 400 bird’s species), we will then head to Lake Nakuru National Park which is worldwide famed for the flamingos that flock to its shores and 450 other species of birds.

Lake Nakuru National Park is a sanctuary for Rhinos (both black and white) and the Rothschild Giraffe.

Visitors will also spend one full day in Amboseli National Park, one of the best places in Africa to meet large herds of elephants. This is a scenery like no other with five different habitats i.e. dried-up bed of Lake Amboseli, the savannah and woodlands, wetlands and Sulphur springs.

The name “Amboseli” is derived from a Maasai word meaning “salty dust”. Visitors can also visit the local Maasai community living around the park for an experience of an exotic culture in this part of the world. Crowning this safari will not be any better without the spectacular up-close background view of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak.

Safari Itinerary

Depart from Nairobi early in the morning and drive to Maasai Mara with a short stop over the escarpment to marvel at the scenic Great Rift Valley.

You will arrive in Maasai Mara for an early check-in and general information and orientation of the park.

This will be followed by lunch and an afternoon game drive through the park.

Early breakfast and a whole day at the park which is popular by the local residents for predators such as lions and cheetahs. The park is home to many other wildlife species like the Zebra, Giraffe, Hippo and the dangerous Crocodiles in the Mara river which you will visit of course. Hot air balloon rides will give a spectacular overhead view of Maasai Mara plains as it spreads across the region.

Visitors will take an early morning drive to Lake Nakuru arriving at mid-morning for a check-in and briefing. Lunch at the park and a short a short rest will follow and thereafter an afternoon drive to catch the great scenery, especially the iconic and spectacular view of the pink flamingos.

In the evening, visitors will take dinner and rest till late night. Thereafter, a might drive to Amboseli national Park.

After checking in in Amboseli National Park, visitors will take an early breakfast and a short rest which will be followed by a drive in Amboseli where visitors will have an opportunity to view herds of elephants in an ever-amazing view with Mount Kilimanjaro in the scene. The whole day will be full of several activities such as birdwatching and photography in the different habitats in the park. Camping overnight in the park will crown the evening after dinner.

The elephants of Amboseli are among the most studied in the world, which has seen it featured in books like “The Amboseli Elephants” and “Elephant Memories” as well as award winning documentaries.

Get to spend a full day at this spectacular part of the world and view the park from the observation hill. This pyramid-shaped hill is one of the only places in the park where you can get out and walk. The summit provides an ideal lookout from which to orientate yourself to the plains, swamps and roads below.

This day will offer visitors an excellent place for birdwatching, the Sinet delta. Away to the northwest from the delta, this ‘lake’, Lake Amboseli which occupies a large swathe of the park, but it’s usually bone dry, except after extended rains.

This day will have an early drive in the park to have the view of the rising sun over the horizon, this will be followed by breakfast and checkout with an head drive to Nairobi where we will arrive late in the evening.
