7 Days Samburu, Aberdare, Lake Nakuru & Mara Safari

Safari Overview

This is a 7 day, 6 night tour visiting Samburu, Aberdare, Lake Nakuru, & Masai Mara for wildlife game viewing drives. The safari will start from Nairobi and end in Nairobi. You shall be in a 4×4 Landcruiser Jeep with an open roof-top for better visual of the game drives.

You will leave Nairobi and head over to Samburu, northern part of Kenya. Samburu National Reserve is known for special 5; Beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, Gerenuk antelope and Somali ostrich.

Picturesque, steep forested ravines and open moorland characterise the Aberdare National Park. The park provides a habitat for elephants, black rhinos, leopards, spotted hyenas, olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, buffalos, warthogs and bushbucks among others. We shall spend the night at the Ark where wildlife come to drink at the waterhole just in front of the lodge which makes sightings easy.

Lake Nakuru, located in the Great Rift Valley, is world’s popular attraction site for bird watching with rhino sanctuary and big cats like lion and leopard. The rare Rothschild giraffe can be found here in Lake Nakuru.

Masai Mara Game Reserve will be our last stop. This is Kenya’s popular tourist attraction because of its highest wildlife concentration per kilometer, Big Five and yearly wildebeest migration.

Safari Itinerary

This morning you will be picked up from the airport or your Nairobi hotel and depart for Samburu Game reserve to arrive in time for lunch. You will have time at leisure before an evening game drive from 1600hrs until sunset. Meals and Overnight: Samburu Sopa Lodge or Similar (FB)
You will have a full day in Samburu with a 0630hrs morning game drive, return to the camp for breakfast. You will have time at leisure after lunch then afterwards at 1600hrs, depart for an evening game drive till dusk. Optional activities include a visit to a Samburu Cultural Village at an extra cost. Meals and Overnight: Samburu Sopa Lodge or Similar (FB)
You will have breakfast and thereafter depart for Aberdare National Park arriving in good time for lunch at Aberdare Country Club the base hotel for The Ark Lodge. After lunch you will be transferred to The Ark for game viewing and overnight with the lodge vehicle. In the afternoon, you will have time at leisure game viewing from the balcony of the lodge for the animals that comes around the waterholes until evening. Note- you only need a soft bag with overnight essential. The other bags will be left at the Aberdare Country Club. You will also say goodbye to your guide since you will not be seeing them until next morning as the lodge driver guides take charge. Meals and Overnight: Ark Lodge or Similar (FB)
You will have morning tea at 0630hrs before being transferred to the base hotel for breakfast and thereafter connect with your driver guide for Lake Nakuru National Park. En route you will have picnic stop over at the Thomson Fall and the Equator before proceeding to the park and arriving in time for lunch. Later after time at leisure, you will have an evening game drive form 1600hrs returning to the Lodge after sunset. Meals and Overnight: Lake Nakuru Lodge or Similar (FB)
0730hrs, after breakfast, you will depart to Maasai Mara driving further through the Great Rift Valley to arrive in time for lunch. You will proceed with an evening game drive from 1600hrs until sunset en route to your overnight lodge. Meals and Overnight: Mara Sopa Lodge or Similar (FB)
You will explore the Mara with a morning game drive and an afternoon game drive at 1600hrs. All meals at the lodge with leisure time between the game drives. Optional extra cost activities include a visit to the Maasai Boma for their culture, an early morning balloon flight than ends with a champagne breakfast on landing and or a night game drive. Meals and Overnight: Mara Sopa Lodge or Similar (FB).
You will have breakfast and thereafter have a leisurely drive to Nairobi arriving in the afternoon. On arrival you will have lunch (own arrangement) before being dropped off at your pick up point or transferred to the airport for your onward flight.
