“Longonot” is a derivative of “Oloonong’ot”, a maasai word that means “mountain of many
spurs”. It is popularly known worldwide for hiking and mountain climbing. When at the
crater’s rim, the reward you get is a clear sight of lake Naivasha, rift valley and the
surrounding hills. Thicket covers the crater’s floor giving it a stunning look.

range of fauna and its spectacular scenery that includes Hell’s gate Gorge (a narrow
sandstone gorge well shaped by water and light), Fischer’s Tower (a high volcanic column)
and Central Tower column. Zebras and Giraffes are usually seen in the Fischer’s tower. The
park also contains a cultural center that the maasai community use to showcase their
traditions and culture. More so, you can drive, walk and cycle within the park.
